Jessica Berrios is excited to join the HYPE Literary magazine team for the first time. She is currently in her third year of college majoring in English and Secondary Education. Since her freshman year at NJCU, she has been a member of the Honors Program as well as the Teacher Intern Program. Before college, she took part in her high school's journalism team and yearbook committee. Writing and literature have been prominent aspects in her life as they provide creative freedom and comfort. Aside from her literary and academic activities, she enjoys spending her time watching movies in theaters, listening to music, and occasionally painting and doing photography. She grew up in a strong, caring Hispanic household consisting of her siblings and mother. With their support, she continues to push herself to further explore her interests, including assisting with the production of another amazing magazine edition.

Leah Castillo

Editorial Assistant

Hi, my name is Leah Castillo and I’m from Union City. It is my first year at NJCU and I am very excited to be a part of the HYPE team! I love to read fantasy novels and watch true crime documentaries. I love to walk in parks with a book and coffee in my spare time and live out my tortured writer in the city fantasy. I am horrible when writing autobiographies because I never know what to put in them as I tend to overshare. I hope that as a member of HYPE I can better my writing skills and meet new people that also share similar literary interests.
